VoIP Phones
Apart from a personal computer, VoIP Phones are the only other way to access VoIP technology and make cheaper calls than what you would normally make with a traditional phone service. There are only 2 pieces of equipment that you need to do this: a traditional phone and VoIP adapter.
In order to “create” a specialized phone fit for VoIP technology, all you have to do is connect a VoIP adapter to your traditional phone. It’s as simple as that. Adapters are now widely available especially on the Internet and can be obtained quite easily.
The way VoIP Phones work is the following.
By connecting a specialized adapter to your traditional phone, your VoIP service converts your voice into a digital signal so that it can travel over the Internet. This can reach either one of two destinations. It can reach another regular phone number (domestic or international) which means that the digital signal will be converted into a regular signal before reaching its destination. Or it can reach another computer in any part of the world. In this case, the digital signal will not be converted.
However, one must not forget that this VoIP technology for that matter can only work with a Broadband (high speed) Internet connection.
There are many services in the market that offer VoIP technology and one can easily get caught up and lost in the information given. The most convenient ones are those that give you the opportunity to make calls with your specialized phone from anywhere a fast Internet connection is available. This way VoIP Phones can become a cheap, efficient and practical alternative to the traditional phone service.
